Park at THE HUT, located at 47 Flemming Road, Chapel Hill. You can then walk up the honeyeater track following the signs to the Summit Lookout. You will cross two dry bridges on the way up. The path is all up hill on the way up, however there are 3 park benches to stop and have a rest. The path is reasonably well maintained and signed, however not as smooth and easy as the Summit Tracks on the other side of the mountain. There are NO water stations on this track, except at the lookout. Continue to the lookout where you will find a cafe, restaurant and toilet facilities. The track is 2.1km to the top of the trail – where the park bench is and another 700 metres to the cafe. Follow the same path back down (another 2.1km from the bench back down to the carpark). Alternatively you could park at the top near the cafe and walk down and back up. This is probably the steepest track up the mountain. If you would like an easier track, you can try the JC Slaughter Falls track on the other side.
Want a longer hike? We hiked up the Honeyeater Track, crossed the road at the top and then went down the Summit track and back again. It was nearly 8km’s all up.
Additional parking is available located on Flemming Road (the road continues around the corner), opposite Greenford Street.
